After a 15 km drive from Kathmandu city center, you reach the Godavari and start walking from there. Before you start the Phulchowki Hiking you can visit the beautiful Bhairav Temple and the nine traditional water spouts at the bottom of Phulchowki Hill. Here, you can also explore the beautiful Godavari Botanical Garden which contains about 500 species of plants and flowers.

As you walk through the dense sub-tropical jungle, you hear birds singing. Some common animals like wild boar, deer, monkey, leopard, marten, etc. are found in this forest. Phulchowki has a large number of birds so it can be a great destination for bird watchers.

After a 4-hour walk, you reach the top of Phulchowki. The Phulchowki Mai temple is located on the top of a hill which is a pilgrimage site for Hindus. On the day when the sky is clear, you can see the magnificent panoramic Himalayas view of Annapurna, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Jugal Himal, etc. from the Phulchowki hill.

The breathtaking view of the beautiful Kathmandu Valley invites you to take many pictures. Enjoy the beautiful view of the Kathmandu Valley and the snow-capped mountain ranges. After lunch, rest for a while and return to the Godavari by following the same route for 3 hours. As there is no hotel on the way, packed lunch should be taken along.

Being easy and short, you can do this Phulchowki Hike at any time of the year, although autumn and spring are the best time to hike.
